Image Description

Speaking of storms, some of the worst I've been in were in the desert.  But I usually welcome a good desert thunderstorm.  They only last a few hours, and you often get incredible clouds before and after the storm.  Someday I'm going to spend a month in the desert at the height of the summer monsoon season, just to enjoy the thunder and photograph the red rock country in the clear air after the rain passes.

I took this sunset photo of a dead juniper silhouetted against the evening sky after a ferocious afternoon thunderstorm during a raft trip on the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument.
