Image Description
I took this photo from shore as Ann's boat went through Lava Falls near the end of our
Sierra Club Grand Canyon raft trip (read about it on the trip reports page).
Now you know why it's called white water rafting.
This trip was the first time I had ever done a guided trip
of any sort. My feeling had always been that if you want to
climb a mountain or raft a river, you should learn the necessary skills,
rather than paying someone to lead you by the hand. I also
had a preconception of guides as being rather macho and likely regarding
their clients with contempt. I couldn't have been more wrong. Our
guides were the most spiritual and ecologically aware group of outdoorspeople
I've ever met. This trip was so phenominal that Ann and I decided
to pay our dues and learn the skills needed to become Sierra Club raft
trip leaders. Read about our next trips on the links
page.
