Image Description
Here is another photo taken while cross country skiing. Mt.
Shuksan (9,127 feet, 2782 m) is well deserving of its nickname, “The
Showpiece of the North Cascades.” There used to be (and
perhaps still is—someone let me know) an enormous photo of Shuksan
in Grand Central Station in New York City. Shuksan's tiny summit
gives a spectacular view of the North Cascades, which are the equal of
any mountains in the world for beauty and ruggedness.
I've never enjoyed skiing of any kind because it's painful
for my hips. But I do have to admit that skis are good transportation
in the winter, and they do get you to places like this with the least
possible effort.
